OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2012. Last Monday saw the first Ural Airlines flight on the Moscow-Cologne route. 52 passengers departed from Moscow to one of the most important cities in Nordrhein-Westfalen, and 84 took the return flight, which shows that the flight is highly marketable.

A festive departure of the first flight from the metropolitan Domodedovo Airport has become a good tradition: the airline prepared small enjoyable gifts to be offered to passengers at check-in.

"Germany is an open market, and a sufficiently attractive one at that. I am certain that the new flight will be in demand", Vladimir Kamynin, Domodedovo Airport Marketing Director, stated. Evgeni Shmagin, RF Consul General in Bonn, has also stressed the demand for the new flight: "This is an event of which our fellow citizens - of whom there are 700-800 thousand residing on the banks of the Rhine, including nearly 200 thousand RF citizens - have been dreaming for a long time now. Up until today, Germany's heartland named Cologne, Germany's 4th largest city, has remained overlooked by Russian air carriers". The first flight made Germans happy - Cologne/Bonn Airport welcomed the Ural Airlines airplane with a festive fire truck water salute. First passengers departing from Cologne were treated to a chocolate cake decorated with miniatures of the Cologne Cathedral and St. Bazil's Cathedral.

Reminder: the Moscow-Cologne flight is operated three times a week on Mondays, Wendesdays, and Fridays; yet another flight on Thursdays is to be added in June. Minimum fare on this route will be 30 euro one way exclusive of any charges in Economy Class and 199 euro exclusive of any charges in Business Class. The schedule has been developed for the convenience of passengers planning to continue travelling within Russia. Through Ural Airlines' well-developed network, passengers will be able to travel from Germany to Ekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Chelyabinsk, and Chita. Waiting time at Domodedovo Airport shall not exceed 4 hours.
