OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2012. The two-day official visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Belarus taken on the invitation of President Alexander Lukashenko has started on April 27.

Within the framework of the top level talks the leaders of the two countries are planning to discuss a wide spectrum of issues regarding the efficient cooperation successfully developing at the bilateral and multilateral basis - within the leading international and regional organisations and structures, and, first of all, the UN. The closeness of approaches and attitudes of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus towards the urgent aspects of the international policy serves as a favourable platform for establishing constructive dialogue satisfying the common tasks and goals.

Supply of reliable agricultural equipment produced in Belarus that has proved itself under the local soil and climatic conditions as well as active participation of our Belarus partners in implementation of large-scale important projects vividly testify to the pragmatic approach towards building a business partnership.

That is vividly proved by a grandiose joint project on construction of the ore-dressing and processing enterprise producing potash fertilizers in Lebap Velayat launched in summer of the year of 2009 with the participation of the Presidents of the two countries. The project envisages construction of the industrial giant as well as supply of the advanced equipment, training of Turkmen specialist as well as skill sharing.

All mentioned above proves that possessing huge economic and resource potential for cooperation, the countries has taken specific steps towards its implementation. One of the important steps taken in this direction was creation of the joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarus Commission on economic cooperation that is aimed at developing and implementing the most efficient mechanisms on increasing and strengthening the partnership that has proved its efficiency and demand.

It is notable that on April 26, on the eve of an official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus, a number of bilateral meetings with participation of the members of the Turkmen delegation, who arrived in Minsk on the Turkmen leader’s instructions, took place at the sectoral ministries and departments of Belarus, and the meeting of the co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarus Commission was held within the framework of the preparations for the top level talks. The meeting participants, including cabinet ministers, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of the governmental structures and business circles of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus discussed the urgent issues of the intergovernmental cooperation, in particular, the agenda of a next sitting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission to be arranged in the second half of the year.

The course for harmonization and establishing close cooperation has promoted to the success of the forthcoming top level talks in the capital of Belarus, which will be reflected in a number of important documents to be signed by the leaders of the two countries and will open up a significant page in the modern history of the Turkmen-Belarus intergovernmental relations.
