OREANDA-NEWS. May 12, 2012. Tata Power, India's largest integrated power utility, recently organised and financed a football camp for school students from villages around its power plant in Haldia. This initiative is in line with Tata Power’s efforts to improve the quality of life in areas around its facilities.

Tata Power’s Haldia team financed a football coaching camp run by St Xavier’s School, which was specially organised for underprivileged children living around Haldia. A total of 30 students were trained this year.

A similar camp was sponsored by the company last year. It benefited the students who participated and was a huge success. This initiative is aimed at helping students develop various skills, such as leadership, teamwork, discipline, perseverance, etc through sports, a valuable learning for self development.

Speaking about this initiative, Vijayant Ranjan, station manager, Haldia power plant, said, “To facilitate developmental initiatives for youth, is a part of our agenda. Our supporting football coaching camps will help these young minds and channelise their energy in a positive manner.
