OREANDA-NEWS. May 21, 2012. Ukraine is interested in continuing cooperation with the International Monetary Fund. This was announced by First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Valeriy Khoroshkovsky during a meeting with IMF mission led by Chris Jarvis which took place in Kyiv, May 21.

At the beginning of discussion the First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine congratulated Chris Jarvis with appointment as head of IMF Ukraine mission and expressed hope for successful further cooperation.

During the discussion of Ukraine’s domestic economy situation, First vice Prime Minister stressed the stability of national currency, a normal functioning of the banking system and improving fiscal policy. He said Ukraine will introduce an increase in tariffs for energy resources to the population only after the development of the program targeted assistance to vulnerable populations and introduction of energy saving technologies. "Initially, we are to work out the use energy saving technologies, develop a system of targeted social assistance, and then we will approach to raising tariffs issue to economically proved level," Valeriy Khoroshkovsky noted.

Speaking about relations development between Ukraine and IMF, First Vice Prime emphasized the parties have to move by means of economic cooperation, including renewal Stand By Program.
