OREANDA-NEWS. June 8, 2012. Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems puts forward a project of an advanced spacecraft integration and test facility.

ISS-Reshetnev faced the necessity of building a new integration and test (I&T) facility imposed by a substantial increase in production. As of today, there are about 50 satellites currently being manufactured at the company. That is why sometimes ISS-Reshetnev specialists have to work on five spacecraft within one assembly area. Another reason behind building a new facility is that back in 1980s when the company arranged its production sites, satellites were much smaller than the present-day ones. Today Information Satellite Systems delivers large-sized heavy-class telecommunications spacecraft, so there is a need for larger sites.

The new facility is to considerably expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities. The 45 000 square meter I&T complex will provide place for assembly and testing of ISS-Reshetnev-built satellites. The main advantage of the facility is that it enables to carry out all procedures in one place. This solution will help minimizing time-consuming spacecraft transportation from one building to another.

The integration and test facility is to be constructed next to the company’s main production site. The project has been recently submitted for consideration to the State expert assessment department. As soon as the expert commission approves it, the facility construction will begin.
