OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2012. The Gazprom headquarters hosted today a meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Evgeny Bakulin, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Ukrainy. The meeting took place in furtherance of the talks held with Yury Boiko, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2012.

The meeting participants addressed the process of gas injection into Ukraine's UGS  facilities to be transparent
to Gazprom, taking into account the agreements that had been previously achieved as well as the advanced payment extended by the Russian party.
Background

In June 2012 Gazprom provided Naftogaz Ukrainy with the advanced payment in the amount of USD 2 billion for Russian gas transit. The funds allowed Naftogaz Ukrainy to supplement the current assets for purchasing natural gas and its subsequent injection into Ukraine's UGS facilities. Timely gas injection into Ukraine's UGS facilities will enable the company to meet its obligations on sustained transit of Russian gas to Europe in the forthcoming winter period.
