OREANDA-NEWS. June 26, 2012. Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee met today with Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska as part of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2012.

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the energy sector. The meeting covered Republika Srpska’s possible involvement in the South Stream project as well as cooperation in gas supplies.

Following the meeting, Alexey Miller and Milorad Dodik underlined a crucial role of the future South Stream gas pipeline in supporting the energy security of Europe.
Background

Republika Srpska is a state entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With a view to diversify the natural gas export routes Gazprom is planning to construct a gas pipeline running under the Black Sea to the countries of Southern and Central Europe – the South Stream project.

Intergovernmental agreements have already been signed with Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia and Austria in order to implement the onshore gas pipeline section.
