OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2012. The Electromagnetic Stirrer of Continuous Casting Slab Mold developed by Baosteel Research Institute and Baosteel Steelmaking Plant has come into use successfully in No.2 continuous caster of Baosteel Steelmaking Plant recently. It is tested and it can fully satisfy the production need of the electromagnetic stirrer of No.2 continuous caster, and reach the technology level of similar imported machine, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

In order to further develop the product quality of continuous casting, Baosteel Science and Technology Department has organized scientific research project and carried out development in continuous casting slab mold electromagnetic stirring device. And the function of this device is to control flow pattern of the molten steel, reducing the casting impact depth and elimate inclusions in the molten steel in high-intensity magnetic field, which will optimize the performance effect of continuous casting.

The result of the comparative examination indicates that the main technical indexes contained in continuous casting slab mold electromagnetic stirring device independently researched and developed by Baosteel are all better than the originally imported ones, with much lower magnetic leakage around the crystallizer. Compared with the imported casting mold electromagnetic stirring, the electric current which produces the same magnetic induction and electromagnetic force used by the ones invented by Baosteel is reduced by 13.3%, which enhances the energy saving effect, at the same time, provides space to promote electromagnetic force of crystallizer, offering further improvement to surface? quality of continuous casting.

As it is reported, the integrated innovative technological result of R&D team of continuous casting slab mold electromagnetic stirring device will be applied to the comprehensive reform project of steel plants No.5 continuous caster to replace the imported ones completely.
