OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2012. Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, JSC (JSC U-UAP), being a part of Russian Helicopters holding company, has delivered 3 Mi-171 helicopters to UTair Aviation.

These helicopters were delivered under the contract for production of 40 helicopters, signed between Russian Helicopters holding and UTair Aviation on August 17, 2011 at MAKS aviation salon in the presence of the Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin. As per the contract terms the air carrier shall receive 40 Mi-171.

In 2008-2011 Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant already delivered to UTair 44 helicopters under two contracts. Currently the air carrier operates some 50 Mi-171 type helicopters manufactured by JSC U-UAP.

“To develop new markets for helicopter operations, UTair Aviation requires the helicopters meeting the highest requirements of the customers. It is projected that the new certified Mi-171 will be involved heavily in the works performed by the company in the Latin America” – stated UTair Aviation CEO Andrey Martirosov.

The three helicopters delivered in July 2012 will be based at the subsidiary UTair-HeliSur in Peru. For the moment the company already successfully operates 6 Mi-171 type helicopters manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.

UTair Aviation is one of the major customers of our enterprise and a long-time business partner of the Russian Helicopters holding” – notes JSC U-UAP Managing Director Leonid Belykh. – To meet the obligations related to the other helicopters JSC U-UAP plans to take various measures, including certification of the helicopters of a more complicated configuration than the previous one”.
