OREANDA-NEWS. August 23, 2012. Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, announces that it now has more than 1,000,000 friends on its global Facebook account.

The company has a total of over 1.5 million fans to its Facebook pages and about 200,000 followers across all its Twitter accounts globally.

As a modern and innovative company, Kaspersky Lab pays serious attention to its development on the Internet. In June 2012 it became the most popular paid AV company on Facebook and Twitter based on the popularity of its pages.  These channels are not only used to share corporate news, but also to deliver the hottest stories from the world of IT security. In recent weeks Kaspersky Lab has used its social networks to highlight its analysis of Duqu and Flame, highly sophisticated, malicious programs that have been actively used as international cyber-weapons. At the moment the company is providing updates on Gauss, a newly-discovered complex cyber-espionage toolkit which appears to have been sponsored at a governmental level.

Evgeny Chereshnev, Kaspersky Lab’s Global Social Media Director, said: “Unlike most companies, we’re not using social networks to make more money. For us, it’s part of a mission to save the world. That means being a true friend to those who need our help. It means sharing top-level expertise, telling the truth about what is going on and ensuring that people are always protected, even in the worst-case scenario. Like friendship, this is no simple, one-off thing. It’s an on-going journey built on shared loyalty and trust. And seeing more than 1 million people join us so quickly tells us we are following the right path together.”
