OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2012. Walmart is working to support our communities and associates that have been impacted by Hurricane Isaac. We placed an emergency management coordinator in the Gulf region in advance of the storm's arrival to determine how to equip our stores and clubs and to understand how we can help impacted communities.

What Walmart and Sam's Club are Doing to Help

We try to anticipate which products will be in greater demand before and after a hurricane, based on our experience from past disasters. Then we work to make sure the stores in the path of the storm have what they need to serve our customers. Learn about our Community Giving efforts.

Before a storm, people are looking to prepare for what may come, especially if they are faced with prolonged periods of power outages, so ready-to-eat foods are extremely popular. Of course water is in high demand, as are propane, flashlights and batteries.

Our stores and clubs will remain open as long as conditions allow. If a mandatory evacuation is ordered, we will close our facilities with enough time for our associates to seek shelter for themselves and their families.

With evacuations in place for Hurricane Isaac, the following facilities are closed in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. Please keep in mind the list below is fluid and may fluctuate in response to any changes in the path of the storm.
