OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2012. Net foreign assets of Belarusian commercial banks amounted to minus USD 2.695 billion as of August 1, 2012, to compare with minUSD 3.703 billion on January 1, 2012, the National Bank of Belarus told.

In July alone, the deficit of Belarusian commercial banks’ net foreign assets shrank 21.2% on the year.

Gross foreign assets of commercial banks were up 11.7% in January-July 2012 to USD 2.549 billion, while foreign liabilities of banks reduced 12.4% to USD 5.244 billion.

Net foreign assets placed in hard currency amounted to minUSD 2.775 billion as of August 1, 2011, while soft currency assets were at the equivalent of plUSD 80.1 million.

In 2011, Belarusian banks’ net foreign assets decreased to minUSD 3.703 billion from minUSD 4.248 billion.
