OREANDA-NEWS. September 3, 2012. Belarus’ retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 10.1% on the year in January-July 2012 to 101.261 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 12.2 billion at the central bank’s rate), an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Sales by public catering organizations grew 7.7% to 5.468 billion rubles (USD 658m).

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 80.8%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the rest.

Belarusian-made consumer goods accounted for 75% of the retail trade turnover. The share of Belarusian foodstuffs was at 84.3%, Belarusian non-foods at 61.8% in retail trade.

The share of private companies in the total retail turnover was at 83% (84.9% the year before), state companies 11.2% (no change), while the share of foreign companies stood at 5.8% (3.9%).
