OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2012. Regular meeting of the construction control panel for Units 1 and 2 of Baltic NPP was held.

The meeting was chaired by Valery Limarenko, Director of NIAEP, and attended by Alexander Palamarchuk, Deputy Director General of Rosenergoatom and Director of the Branch “Department for Construction of Facilities”; Yevgeny Vlasenko, Director of the Branch of Rosenergoatom “Directorate of Baltic NPP under Construction”; Vyacheslav Makhonin, First Deputy Director of NIAEP and Director of the Baltic Branch; Vladimir Belov, First Deputy Director of NIAEP for Technical Issues and Head of Construction Projects of Baltic and Belarus NPPs; as well as representatives of the Architect General (SPb AEP) and key contractors.

Before the panel meeting the attendees walked down the construction site and familiarized with the facility construction progress. At the present time, on the Baltic NPP construction site works are carried out at 20 facilities, including main buildings and 26 temporary facilities of the construction support base. According to the construction schedule the work is executed by 6 earlier engaged organizations and 10 newly involved entities of the upper subcontractors’ tier. The August milestones of Unit 1 include completion of the vertical lining of the reactor building foundation plate at elevations –8.730 and 7.500 meters.

“In September, one of significant events was the concreting of the auxiliary building walls from elevation –11.500 up to –8.00 meters. Also, the work continues to excavate the foundation pit of the nuclear island buildings,” Vyacheslav Makhonin noted at the panel meeting.

Valery Limarenko stressed that the Baltic NPP construction process would become more dynamic. “In the nearest two months, together with Rosenergoatom, we will produce a plan of further increase of the staff and deployment of construction companies on the site. Next year, the work volume will be increased by two times, as minimum,” he said.
