OREANDA-NEWS. September 11, 2012. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. The meeting agenda focused on the results of the socio-economic development of the country for the last eight months of the current years as well as the drafts of documents and important issues of the state policy life.

Opening the meeting, the Turkmen leader congratulated those present and all citizens of Turkmenistan on the forthcoming holiday – the Ruhnama Day that is widely celebrated in our country.

During the meeting Vice Premiers reported on the work done in the spheres under their supervision within the last eight months of the current year. In particular, it was reported on the preparations for the official visit of the Government delegation of Turkmenistan led by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Latvia on September 11-12. The Vice Premiers informed the Turkmen leader on the cultural events taken place these days within the framework of the Avaza-2012 International forum as well as the programme of events scheduled for the near future.

The President of Turkmenistan was also informed on that the growth rate of oil and gas and gas condensate production made up 105.7 percent, natural and associated gas production 110.1 percent as compared to the same period of 2011. The ‘blue fuel’ export to neighbouring and remote countries increased up to 12.8 percent. The high growth rates have been achieved in the sphere of production of oil products. The indicators are as follows: 106.3 percent in the motor petrol production, 109.1 percent – polypropylene production, liquefied gas – 121.1, lubricating oils - 114.4 percent. It was also reported on the preparations for the International conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan” to be held in Ashgabat on September 13.

Within the reporting period, 20 kindergartens, 20 secondary schools and a children’s health-improving centre designed for 1,000 places were put into operation. Turkmen schoolchildren taken part in 19 international intellectual games won 99 medals.

The cotton picking campaign is in full swing in the fields sown with cotton throughout the country. Cotton was treated with defoliants. These days, winter crops have been sown in line with the schedule in strict compliance with all necessary agro-technical measures.

It was noted that electric power had been supplied through the power lines in accordance with the Agreement signed between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Energy and Water Industry of Afghanistan. By the request of Afghanistan on increasing the volumes of supplying power energy, a special document authorizing the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan to sign additional agreements on increasing the supply of electricity was drafted.

In January-August 2012, the volume of investment used from all sources of finance rose by 35.8 percent as compared to the same period of 2011. The major part of investments was used for developing the complex and multisectoral industry, increasing production capacities, building regional and international highways, increasing the level and quality of people’s life.

Commenting on the reports presented during the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that the results achieved in eight months of the current year vividly testified to the dynamic development of the national economy of the country. That is proved by the fact that in January-August the GDP growth rate made up 111.1 percent. The volumes of industrial production significantly increased and made up 133.2 percent and the production growth at the construction industry increased up to 18.3 percent.

The other state policy issues were considered during the government meeting, and the decisions were adopted.
