OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2012. On September 15 of the current year, an environmental campaign “Alleys of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company” started in Yakutsk; it is timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary-of the company and the forthcoming 22nd Winter Olympics and 11th Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi.

Within the framework of the campaign, an alley of 65 birch saplings was planted on Teploye Lake embankment. The campaign participants included the employees of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, company’s customers and partners, and also any wishing residents of Yakutsk. The campaign organizers hope that embankment planting will refresh the citizens’ favorite place of rest and make it even more attractive, and will also allow to draw public attention to the questions of environmental protection, serving a good example for those who think about prosperity and development of their city and region.

A real gift for campaign organizers was awarding a jubilee medal “380th Anniversary of Yakutsk Foundation” to Gavrila Akimov, Director of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company branch in Yakutsk. Aysen Nikolaev, the city principal, congratulated Ingosstrakh Insurance Company on its 65th anniversary and noted that trust and gratitude on the customers’ part is the result of many years of the company’s successful work.

The environmental campaign “Alleys of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company” is part of the Billion Tree Campaign, a world tree planting initiative performed within the framework of the United Nations Environmental Program. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company’s tree planting project will last for two months in Russian regions. During this time, it is planned to plant about 3,000 trees in the country’s largest cities where the company branches function. The participants of the events will include the employees of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company’s branches, its regional centers and headquarters, as well as volunteers of the 22nd Winter Olympics and 11the Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi.

The campaign will terminate on November 16, 2012, on the birthday of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. At the end, a photo exhibition will be organized, executed by participants from all Russian cities where the “Alleys of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company” will appear.

Billion Tree Campaign was initiated by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) in response not only to the threat of global warming but also large-scale challenges to sustainable development ranging from the problems of water supply to the loss of biodiversity. According to UNEP, planting trees remains one of the most economically efficient methods of solving the problem of climate change, as trees and forests absorb carbon dioxide.
