OREANDA-NEWS.  September 28, 2012. 27 years ago, this day witnessed the successful ignition of China's first super-large blast furnace--Baosteel No.1 blast furnace, which initiated Chinese dream of turning China into a powerful steel producer and set up a spiritual monument with the spirit of "85.9" as the core connotation. 27 years later, on September 15, the tip of the pyramid of Central Research Institute is suffused by the vernal sunshine, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

For this commemorative day, young and old Baosteel people gathered in the place where the dream of iron & steel started and attended the commemorative ceremony of the first Baosteel "Company Day" solemnly with expectation. This commemorative activity inspires all Baosteel people to enshrine "85.9" in the heart, and work in a concerted way to overcome the difficulties, so as to pay tribute to CPC's 18th National Congress and realize the dream of second pioneering!
The leaders including Xu Lejiang, Luo Guosheng, He Wenbo, Zhao Kun, Ma Guoqiang, Fu Zhongzhe, Li Haiping, etc., some retired leaders including Xu Daquan, Zhu Erpei, Zhang Haobo, Hu Zhihong, Shen Chengxiao, Guan Zhuangmin, Li Qishi, Zhang Siming, Yin Hao, Ouyang Yingpeng, Dai Yuanyong, Dong Zhengzuo, Wang Jinde, etc., Baosteel's meritorious people, the principals of each functional and business department in the headquarters, the Party and executive leaders of the subsidiaries of main steel business and diversified business, the representatives of old comrades, old specialists and employees attended the ceremony. Deputy Party secretary of the Group Corporation Fu Zhongzhe chaired the ceremony.

In an excellent enterprise, the products will update and upgrade, the young employees will supersede the old employees, but only the cultural gene will run in the family and go on forever. Last year, "The opinion of further strengthening the construction of corporate culture" was deliberated and passed on the 6th plenary meeting of Baosteel's third Party Committee, which decided to appoint September 15 every year as Baosteel's "Company Day" from this year, to further carry forward the spirit of "85.9" and carry on corporate culture. Moreover it is taken as the opportunity of the education of sense of mission for carrying out the second pioneering and striving to achieve the world class and enterprise vision education of "common development of employees and enterprise, so as to cohere with the overall joint force of all Baosteel people, inspire the enthusiasm for pioneering and realize the sustainable development of the enterprise.

In the ceremony, the video "Footprint" brought people back to the unforgettable days with black-and-white photograph. Yu Xiagen, the representative of the torch bearers of No.1 blast furnace ignition ceremony, who now is a member of the blast furnace overhaul project team of Baosteel Ltd. Iron-making Plant went up onto the platform to deliver a speech. He said, the days and nights of hard work to put Baosteel Phase 1 project into operation in "85.9" was still alive in his memory. It was the self forgetful working spirit and enthusiasm of the employees that finally guaranteed the successful production startup of "85.9". The video carried people's memory. "Enshrinement" recorded Baosteel's meritorious people who made outstanding contributions to Baosteel's development and the representatives of the hero or heroine collected in "Classical stories of Baosteel culture".

As a tribute to "Company Day", "Classical stories of Baosteel culture"  and "Unscrambling the culture of Baosteel's second pioneering" made the first issuance. Baosteel's meritorious people and the representatives of the hero or heroine collected in "Classical stories of Baosteel culture" conferred the books on the Baosteel's Top 10 outstanding youth and the representatives of young pacemakers. Bidding farewell to yesterday and coming to today, as the pictures of video "Change" are projected, the barren tidal flat has become a large modernized steel plant. Through the camera lens of video "Manifesto", the youth representatives from the subsidiaries of iron & steel and diversified business shouted out the corporate vision in chorus with high morale. The representative of Baosteel's Top 10 outstanding youth, the regional engineer of Baosteel Ltd. Silicon Steel Department No.1 sub-plant Jin Guo vowed in his speech to take over the flag of "85.9" from the hands of the elder generation, and face the challenges of second pioneering with the enterprising spirit.

President He Wenbo of the Group Corporation made profound explanation of Baosteel's core value of brands in his speech. He pointed out that, brands is the symbol of enterprise's soft strength, every employee is the ambassador of brands, and should uphold Baosteel's core value of brands and brand commitment to foster the active and stable brand experience for the stakeholders. To become a great enterprise driven by brands, Baosteel must create a new history with actions and follow the road from "manufactured by Baosteel" to "created by Baosteel", which is a dream worthy of running after with our wisdom and sweats. Although many challenges will be encountered in the journey, but the process is bound to bring us with pleasant surprise and rewards.

The older generation of Baosteel people handed over an eye-catching physical Baosteel to our hand, and set up a spiritual monument of Baosteel for us. Let's take the first "Company Day" as the start, the "PDCA+graveness" reiterated by chairman Xu Lejiang as the attitude, to carry forward the spirits of Baosteel culture, greet the difficulties and make due contributions to Baosteel's second pioneering and turning China into a powerful steel producer.

Chairman Xu Lejiang of the Group Corporation showed his respect for and gratitude to the veteran leaders, old comrades and specialists, Baosteel's meritorious people, employees and constructors attending the ceremony. He pointed out that, in view of the drastic changes in the market at present, Baosteel can not lose its excellent culture gene and core values if it wants sustainable development, because they are the groundwork of Baosteel; it is the choice of the destiny and an evitable road to seek the impetus of active reformation and sustained progress in the carrying-forward. To become a sustainable enterprise, Baosteel must have the cultural descent coming down in one continuous line and the spiritual relay of a connecting link between the preceding and the following, taking the initiatives to seek the impetus of active reformation and sustained progress. He wished that all Baosteel people can carry forward the spirit of "85.9", devote themselves to the great expedition of second pioneering with steely wills and innovative philosophy, so as to write a more wonderful and splendid chapter in the history.
