OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2012. The United Metallurgical Company (CJSC OMK, Moscow City) will invest about 14 billion rubles in the development of Vyksa Steel Works (OJSC VMZ, Nizhny Novgorod region) in 2012, VMZ’s Executive Director Sergey Filippov said at a press conference.

According to Filippov, the majority of these funds will be spent on modernizing production facilities for small- and medium-diameter pipes (TESK MSD), large-diameter pipes and the wheel rolling complex.

By the end of this year, over 5 billion rubles will be invested in completing modernization at pipe and arc welding shop No.3 (TESTs-3) at TESK MSD, extending the production capacities of pipe finishing and production preparation areas at TESTs-5 at TESK MSD, and reconstructing mils 1 and 2, which produce small-diameter pipes at TESTs-2 at the small- and medium-diameter pipe complex. This will allow the enterprise to master the technology of making new-generation pipe products with improved consumer characteristics that will comply with the most advanced international standards.

In addition, OMK’s and VMZ’s priority projects are the organization of a new external anti-corrosion pipe coating area at the large-diameter pipe complex and the installation of a processing complex with digital software at the wheel rolling complex.
