OREANDA-NEWS. October 1, 2012. Norwegian company „Norway Registers Development“ AS, owned by Lithuanian company BAIP Group, together with its partners from Lithuania will design, develop and implement tax e-filing system in four Eastern Caribbean states.

At the end of September, 2012 Norway Registers Development and the joint venture partners UAB NRD and UAB Alna Software signed a one-year one million dollar contract in St. Lucia.

„Out of six participants from all over the world the companies of BAIP group and partners were awarded the contract in the competition initiated by Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and supported by the World Bank. A year ago we acquired Norwegian company group „Norway Registers Development“ which has accumulated extensive expertise in over 40 countries. This fact has opened the door to international markets, where we seek to enter together with other Lithuanian IT companies, - commented CEO of „BAIP Group“ Kazimieras Tonkunas.

The project manager in Eastern Caribbean States, CEO of UAB „NRD“ Alvydas Arnoldas Sidlauskas told that it is the first competition won in the tax field abroad.

„Thus it is a great challenge to implement the e-tax filing system in a rather short time period as we have to finish it until the end of July, 2013. This notwithstanding the projects implemented by us and our partners „Alna Software“ in Sate Tax Inspectorate and other experience in Lithuania are likely to lead to positive outcome of this project. I think that it is a great achievement to have a chance to use Lithuanian best practice in a far-off country and contribute to the development of information technology in public sector, economic growth, and the quality of public services globally“, - told A. Sidlauskas.

The contract signed by Lithuanian joint venture consortium is aimed at developing an on-line registration and electronic tax filing subsystem to interface with the tax management system. The general objective is to design, develop and install a Front End tax e-filing system to enable electronic interactions for the purposes of registration, filing of declarations and returns, performing electronic payments of taxes.

„We have been successfully cooperating in Lithuanian projects with „NRD“, a member of BAIP Group, quite a while, therefore this invitation to join the international consortium was attractive for us. We will be responsible for one third of Project tasks. We hope that joint work will be mutually successful and lucrative“, - highlighted director of „Alna Software“ Arturas Gruodis.

The World Bank, which supports the Project in Eastern Caribbean States, seeks to promote the efficiency, quality, and transparency of public services through the delivery of regionally integrated e-government applications.
