OREANDA-NEWS. October 9, 2012. BIGBANK and the Estonian Champions in Volleyball are concluding a three-year sponsorship contract today (3 October 2012).

The volleyball team having won both the Schenker league and Estonian Championships in 2012, formerly called Tartu Pere Leib, will begin the new season with a new name derived from its new main sponsor – BIGBANK Tartu.

According to the Member of the Management Board of BIGBANK, Kaido Saar, BIGBANK has decided to support the team in the next three seasons. “It is a strong and successful team having won several titles and supporting the team is an honour for every sponsor. On the other hand, Tartu was where BIGBANK – which has grown into an international group operating in 9 different countries - commenced its activities 20 years ago and our official head office is still there.”

The contract between BIGBANK and MTU Spordiklubi DUO, who organise the activities of the Tartu volleyball team, is initially concluded for a 3-year period. Upon agreement between the parties, the sum of the sponsorship contract is not to be disclosed.

“For us, a large sponsorship contract is a sign of trust and gives a good basis for the further stabile development of the team. Certainly the players of the volleyball team will now have better possibilities to reach a new level in their game,” said the manager of the team, Alari Joesaar.

The volleyball team formerly called Tartu Pere Leib was created 13 years ago as a successor to the earlier Osel Foods team. The new team was established by two of Osel Foods’ players, Raivo Simson and Alari Joesaar, who are still the leaders of the volleyball team from Tartu. Since its creation, Tartu Pere Leib has been one of the best and strongest volleyball teams in Estonia having won a total of 8 different titles in its years of activity. The head coach of the team is Rainer Vassiljev.

BIGBANK AS is a credit institution based on Estonian capital and having branches in Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania and Spain and offering its products as a cross-border service in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. It was founded in 1992, in Tartu, Estonia.
