OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2012. For the first time this year, the National Bank of Ukraine has conducted the Children’s drawing contest entitled “The National Bank of Ukraine in the future". The contest aimed to increase children’s knowledge about the National Bank of Ukraine, its functions and tasks, as well as to discover creative abilities of children.

Children from all regions of Ukraine aged 5 to 14 have participated in the contest. They have expressed their vision for the future of the National Bank of Ukraine in their works.

The children’s drawings have inspired the National Bank of Ukraine to issue a set of collectible circulation and small coins entitled “Coins of Ukraine” (hereinafter referred to as the set) devoted to this contest.

By the commission’s decision, the images of drawings by Valeriya Zemtsova entitled “Our generation will strengthen this root, as the economy expands – our hryvnia will flourish”, by Dar’ya Ignatieva entitled “We value Ukrainian traditions and preserve the national wealth” and a fragment of the drawing by Hanna Starodubova are depicted on the set packaging and a token included in the set.

The set includes small coins of all denominations: 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 kopiykas and a circulation coin of 1 hryvnia denomination.

The coin sets issued with a mintage volume of 5,000 pieces will be sold at the price of 100 hryvnias through the regional branches of the National Bank of Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the regional branches).

The National Bank of Ukraine continues to issue silver souvenir banknotes that reproduce the design of banknotes. These souvenir banknotes are in great demand.

In 2012, the souvenir banknotes made of silver with a fineness of 999.9 were issued. They reproduce the design of banknotes of 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnia denominations. These banknotes differ from those that have been previously issued in terms of size and weight (weight 93.3 g, size - 115x57x1.32 mm).

The silver banknotes that have been issued with a mintage volume of 500 pieces will be sold through the regional branches at a price of UAH 1,650 per 1 banknote packaged in a case.

The National Bank of Ukraine continues to issue silver banknotes of 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 hryvnia face value. The banknote features are as follows: metal - silver 999.9 fineness, weight – 124.4 g, size - 133x66x1.35 mm, and mintage - 500 pieces.

The coins will be sold through the regional branches at a price of UAH 2,375 per 1 banknote packaged in a case.

Another type of souvenir products that enjoys great demand is a set of miniature banknotes made of silver that consists of 9 miniature banknotes that bear the signature of Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Sergiy G. Arbuzov.

The features of a miniature banknote: metal - silver 999.9 fineness, weight – 7.78 g, size – 20.0x40.0x0.95 mm, and mintage - 500 pieces. The miniature banknotes will be sold through the regional branches at a price of UAH 1,880.
