OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2012. The revocation was announced by Minister of Justice Oleg Efrim before the plenary sitting of the Parliament the draft law was going to be considered. It should be reminded that levying the road toll on cars registered abroad, or the vignette, is stipulated by the fiscal policy for 2013. Earlier the government approved the rate of the toll.

According to Finance Minister Veaceslav Negruta, Cabinet ministers decided to introduce three types of the toll: for 3, 30 and 180 days. Their cost was offered to amount to 7, 65 and 380 euros respectively. As the Finance Minister stated, introducing the new road toll is very important for fair taxation since at present owners of cars registered aboard are not paying any duties for using Moldova’s roads.

However, Moldovan labour migrants and Moldovan expatriates expressed discontent with the overly high rates of the toll which are much more expensive than those in EU. They raised this problem at the 5th Congress of Moldovan Expatriates, held these days in Chisinau.
