OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2012. As a part of its philosophy of improving the quality of life of the communities living in and around its area of operations, Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL), a 100 percent subsidiary of Tata Power developing the 4,000MW Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP), organised a free health check-up camp for the primary school children of the local village community at Modhava village. This initiative was organised under Project Arogya implemented by CGPL.

During this camp, general diagnostics services were made available for the school children. Dr Lalji, a prominent child specialist, was invited for consultation for various concerns of the children, varying from viral infections, bacterial infections, anorexia, allergies and worm infestations amongst others. A site medical team consisting of medical officers and paramedics was present to diagnose and provide treatment on various ailments.

The camp successfully reached out to 133 children of the local school, who received not only free consultation but also free medicines. Patients needing higher interventions were also referred to appropriate centres. CGPL employees, including the senior level management team, volunteered to make the camp a major success.

Commenting on this initiative, KK Sharma, chief, Mundra project, said, "It is our endeavour to improve the quality of life of our communities. One of our aims is to provide a caring, supportive and healthy environment for primary school children while helping them build their identity, confidence and positive self-image. A healthy child can perform better at school and is the hope for his family and community. We are proud of our work in the communities."
