OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2012. A presentation of the route of Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay was held in Moscow; Ingosstrakh Insurance Company took part in the event as the Representing Partner of the Relay.

Before the presentation, all the guests were presented schematic maps with 123 points corresponding with the number of the Relay days and markers. The program was started with an opening video clip about the Relay. Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Organizing Committee “Sochi 2014” delivered a welcome speech to the audience, in which he told about the project itself, the Relay route, the events planned within the framework of this ambitious project covering the whole country. Then he invited the guests to join the points on their schematic maps thus plotting the route of Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay themselves.

Being the Representing Partner of the Olympic Torch Relay, Ingosstrakh Insurance Company will provide its organizers with the opportunity to insure motor vehicles, cargoes, life, and health. In addition to that, the insurance company is intended to hold entertaining events in 83 regions of Russia on the way of the Relay. Millions of Russians will have a chance to participate in these celebrations.

According to tradition, the Olympic torch will be lighted in Greece, from where it will be delivered to Moscow on October 7, 2013 and start its further journey in Russia. The Relay will cover 2,900 localities during 123 days. The torch will be brought by 14 thousand torch-bearers. The Olympic Torch will cover a total distance of 65,000 kilometers, in particular by cars, trains, planes, and even the Russian troika (a team of three horses) and deer.

Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch Relay will be not only the longest relay in the Olympic Games history but also the longest among all national Olympic torch relays within the territory of the host country. Some 130 mln Russians will manage to take part in the Relay events. According to the plans of the Organizing Committee “Sochi 2014”, the Relay will cross the whole country from Moscow to Sochi and visit the prominent historic, cultural, and picturesque places of Russia, including Yasnaya Polyana, the Russian part of the Curonian Spit, Avachinsky volcanoes, and the Kizhi open-air museum. The new Olympic year 2014 will be welcomed by the Torch Relay in one of the most beautiful cities of Russia – Kazan.
