OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2012. A two-day reconnaissance visit of a delegation from South African Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to Russia started October 23.

The event is taking place in accordance with the cooperation program stipulated in Memorandum of Understanding signed between JSC Rusatom Overseas and Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa (NECSA).

Among the delegates are representatives of Department of Trade and Industry, Nuclear industry Association of South Africa (NIASA), as well as the representatives of the leading South African energy companies.

At first the delegates will pay a visit to the headquarters of JSC NIAEP, one of Rosatom’s engineering enterprises, where they will get familiar with the company’s capacities in engineering, particularly with the innovative Multi-D technology.

“South Africa is facing great demand in electricity. First of all we plan to develop nuclear power, which share in our energy mix should be increased. All that causes our interest in your company, and that is why our delegation is so representative”, emphasized the delegation head Gerhard Fourie, Director of Investment Programs at DTI.

Moreover, delegates will visit the construction site of Units 3, 4 at Rostov NPP. The trip agenda also includes visits to the Moscow Branch of JSC NIAEP, as well as to JSC Atomstroyexport’s headquarters in Moscow.

“We are presenting a full range of our capabilities to South-African colleagues: from the projects on a computer screen through its implementation on site. This is more convincing than any words”, said Yuri Ivanov, First Deputy Director of JSC NIAEP.
