OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2012. Entrepreneurs in Latvia will be able to accept payments for goods and services by plastic cards without installing and connecting common bank’s POS-terminals. According to AS "PrivatBank", the bank offers a unique technology to make payments by bank cards – using an ordinary computer or a smartphone. The mini-terminal costs LVL1 for customers of any Latvian bank. Customers of AS "PrivatBank" - users of “All for entrepreneurs" service package can connect to the advanced technology for free.

“This is one of the most advanced payments-via-mini-terminals technologies in Europe,” said Alexander Trubakov, the Chairman of AS" PrivatBank". “Mini-terminals are much more affordable for use at retail outlets than conventional payment terminals. Implementation of the new technology results in absence of need to purchase payment devices, pay for their setting-up and servicing.”

PrivatBank’s mini-terminal is attached to a standard 3.5 mm headphone audio jack and is compatible with smartphones, iPhones, computers, laptops and tablets based on OS Android, MacOS and OS Windows. An activation of mini-terminal is made via iPay software application which can be downloaded for free from App Store, Google Play as well as from PrivatBank’s website (the version for users of Windows, MacOS and Linux). PrivatBank banking group provides payment processing and customers support service.

Card holder payments via mini-terminals do not differ for banks from those made via common terminals. A customer has to run a card through a special device and affix the signature on the smartphone screen to make payment. A payment receipt can be sent to the cardholder’s email or by SMS to his mobile number, at holder’s option.
