OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2012.  31 October in Kiev General Director of Rusatom Service Michael Concerev and Acting President NNEGC Energoatom Vissarion Kim signed the Cooperation agreement between the two companies for the service of nuclear power plants with VVER at all stages of their life cycle.

The agreement is intended to facilitate the implementation of the instructions of Ukraine Prime-minister Nikolai Azarov to deepen the Ukrainian-Russian cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

Active assistance in the preparation and signing of the document was rendered by a Representative office of JCS Rusatom Overseas, whose mission is to develop cooperation between Russia and Ukraine in the nuclear power sphere.

The main purpose of the Agreement, as specified in the document, is mutually beneficial cooperation between NNEGC Energoatom and Rusatom Service on the maintenance not only of NPPs but also other energy facilities, both in Ukraine and on the other countries’ markets.

The Agreement implies cooperation between the companies in engineering and technical support of nuclear power plants with VVER reactors, their maintenance, systems and equipment repair, as well as - in the modernization of such NPPs, supplying equipment to them, implementation of projects on life extension of power units, their decommissioning, and personnel training. It is noted that there are also other possible cooperation areas of mutual interest.

By signing the agreement, the acting president of NNEGC Energoatom Vissarion Kim stressed that "it is important not to delay the transition from talks to a certain job."

For his part, General Director of Rusatom Service M. Koncerev said: "We are optimistic about the future. And we believe that Ukraine is our reliable partner on the market of services for nuclear power plants with VVER reactors."

"We are grateful to our colleagues from the NNEGC Energoatom for being able to get started in that direction so promptly. Good prospects for cooperation are opening for us not only in the nuclear industry. We hope that it will also be possible to move forward in the field of thermal power stations. Such a move has good chances not only in Ukraine, but also in the other countries. I think that the signing of the agreement is a very good basis for further cooperation", said the vice-president of Rusatom Overseas, General Representative of ROSATOM in Ukraine Alexander Merten, commenting on the agreement.
