OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2012. Kirovsky Zavod continues implementation of the complex production system. In October within the frames of lean manufacturing the enterprise was visited by a famous business consultant and one of creators of lean conception Michael Vader.

An American expert held a training seminar for the employees of Kirovsky Zavod and evaluated the progress in implementation of lean manufacturing methods in workshops of Kirov Enegomash Plant (a subsidiary of JSC Kirovsky Zavod). The selection of the site was not occasional: over the last months elements of the production systems has been implemented sequentially which includes process standardization, work place arrangement according to method of 5S, visual management is being implemented and the personnel is trained to methods of losses detection and elimination.

Michael Vader examined the sectors which had been reorganized, evaluated the process of the system implementation on site and provided recommendations on minimization of unreasonable expenses. In the process of communication with the Company’s specialists the business consultant shared the experience of lean manufacturing methods in Russia and abroad and told how to increase the production efficiency without considerable capital investments using these methods. Michael Vader answered the questions of the audience concerning the mechanisms of motivation of the personnel and tools of increase in labor productivity at industrial enterprises.

Visit of Michael Vader aroused much interest of representatives of subsidiaries of Kirovsky Zavod as over the last years the Group of Companies has been working actively on putting of its activity in compliance with the principles of lean manufacturing. Establishment of Kirovsky Zavod Production System (KZPS) has been held since 2011. Within the frames of this project visual management, standardized work and problem solving, new system of human resources management, quality processes, system of materials are implemented in the subsidiaries of the Holding as well as spreading of work place arrangement according to the method of 5S and Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM).

KZPS aimed to increase labor productivity, efficiency and compatibility of the enterprise. Achieving of these aims is carried out by optimization of internal processes, far-sighted use of resources as well as detection and elimination of all kind of losses.

KZPS is based on the best practices of such leading industrial enterprises of the world as General Motors, Hyundai Motor Company, Magna Steyr and GAZ Group. At the present most actively methods of lean manufacturing are being implemented at the following subsidiaries of Kirovsky Zavod: СJSC St Petersburg Tractor Plant, СJSC Metallurgic Plant Petrostal, Kirov Energomash Plant LLC, Kirov Stankomash LLC, СJSC Universalmash Plant and Kirov Transmission LLC. In 2013 this list will be added with several other companies.

Michael Vader is President of Lean Plus, Director of Group of Lean Mаnufacturing Implementation, coach of the Russian Lean School. Over 20 years he has been teaching and conducting coaching of enterprises in lean programs implementation. Among his clients there are enterprises of air-, motor and instrument engineering, metallurgy and metal working, extracting, food, pharmaceutical and other branches. Michael Vader participated in launching of target governmental programs on lean manufacturing in the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazakhstan, in successful implementation of projects in companies General Motors, Ford Motor Company, VSMPO-AVISMA, RUSAL, Russian Railways, Tikkurila, AutoVAZ, SIBUR-Russian Tyres and others.
