OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2012. SSE Utility Solutions (SSEUS) has passed the milestone of connecting 100,000 properties to the gas distribution network in the UK with the connection of Liverpool International Business Park in Merseyside.

The one stop solution for multi-utility infrastructure has grown rapidly over recent years, dealing specifically with the growing demand to provide affordable and timely utility connection services. Since the start of the current financial year over 8,000 connections have been made.

SSEUS provide a comprehensive range of ‘utility solutions’ designing, building and operating cable and pipe networks for delivering electricity, gas, water, heat and telecommunications to existing and new commercial and residential developments. After reaching its first noteworthy milestone of 50,000 gas connections just five years ago, the business has seen a significant increase in deployment over these last five years and is now recognised as one of the leading utility service connection providers in the country.

Liverpool International Business Park is a 160 acre site adjacent to John Lennon Airport in Merseyside and once fully developed will comprise of 50,000 sqft of commercial business accommodation. Historically, the gas supply system was connected to National Grid’s local distribution network, however following engineering modifications it is now connected to SSE’s licensed public gas distribution network. This means all customers connecting to this gas system will now have the opportunity to select their preferred gas supplier from the competitive licensed gas market.

Head of Operations for Peel Holdings Frank Welsh, who own, operate and maintain the private infrastructure supplying the site said: “This project has been a successful working partnership that has brought a number of benefits across the board. A gas system has now been adopted by a licensed Independent Gas Transporter which brings many advantages - one of which being customers now have the opportunity to nominate their preferred supplier of choice from a competitive gas industry.”

SSE Utility Solutions Managing Director Nathan Sanders is delighted with the growing success of the business. He said: “We are proud to be able to provide a one stop solution for multi-utility infrastructure in the construction sector and we are very proud to have grown this business over the last two decades. The work we have done at Liverpool International Business Park means the site now benefits from a competitive gas market.

We have a dedicated and hard working team but the hard work doesn’t stop here – we’re determined to maintain momentum and to be the leading provider of utility infrastructure solutions in the country by being the safest, most cost effective customer focused networks business with the reputation for delivering on time and on budget.”
