OREANDA-NEWS. December 4, 2012. Transaero Airlines’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) program was ranked among the top three programs for social and charitable activities among all the companies in Russia according to an annual study conducted by Russian business daily Vedomosti, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Donors Forum non-profit partnership.

Transaero's comprehensive CSR program includes sponsorship projects to help children with serious diseases, volunteer projects run by Transaero employees and projects to improve the quality of life for those with disabilities. Support for underprivileged children with medical needs is a priority of the Transaero programs. For more than five years Transaero has provided support for children battling to overcome cancer as part of its “Back to the Future” project run in partnership with major charity foundations. Transaero provides children from a number of Russian regions and the CIS countries for the complimentary tickets allowing them to go to treatment at leading clinics in Moscow, St. Petersburg and abroad. The airline also sponsors programs for the physical rehabilitation of children who have reacted successfully to treatment and are ready to return to normal life. Thanks to this project, more than 1,300 young patients have been transported for treatment. More than 850 child patients suffering from cancer and hematologic diseases have been rehabilitated.

Transaero’s CSR program of charitable projects is actively staffed by volunteers – Transaero employees and their families. The concerned people from different departments of the airline all share a common goal - to help children. For many of them volunteer work has become an integral part of life. The Transaero corporate program “Journey to Transaero Land” brings together more than five hundred employee-volunteers working in different cities - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok, Omsk, Tomsk. The airline even has a “Transaero Volunteers Club” – an employee run program organizing private donations and regular donor initiatives.

In addition, Transaero works in cooperation with “Perspective”, an organization for disabled people provides special training for its staff working with individuals with disabilities. Transaero is one of the authors of the air transport code of corporate service standards for passengers with disabilities in Russia.

The current ranking among the Leaders of Corporate Responsibility includes 52 Russia's largest companies and affiliated branches of well-known foreign companies. The charitable activity of the companies was evaluated in five key areas: vision and strategy, approach to charity and philanthropy, management and processes, results and perspectives, and transparency of information and charity expenses. The study revealed the three leading companies to be Transaero Airlines, AFK Systema and the Katren Company. Transaero Airlines was also ranked second in Russia in the sub-category for Leaders of Corporate Charity in the Industrial Goods and Services Sector.

In 2012 Transaero Airlines was awarded with the highest rating for corporate social responsibility (AAAs) by the Reputation rating agency.
