OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2012. SIBUR has launched a new grant scheme for schoolchildren and teachers.

The scheme is designed to encourage school students to study subjects relevant for the company, such as chemistry, physics or mathematics, and subsequently have them join SIBUR’s enterprises. It also aims to reward teachers for effective, in-depth teaching.

The pilot project will cover six pre-selected regions: Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Areas, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, and Tyumen Regions.

SIBUR’s grants will be awarded to school students winning city-wide academic competitions or taking medal places in regional or autonomous area finals. An additional criterion will be students’ active role in school or city life, in particular, their successes in sports or creativity contests.

Students’ medal places will also be the prime criterion to award a grant to a teacher. Those teachers who throughout the academic year have organised at least two events to promote advanced study of subjects relevant for SIBUR among schoolchildren will have an additional advantage.

Grantees will be selected by the judging panel made up of representatives of SIBUR and city departments for education.

The grant for schoolchildren is 3,000 roubles, for teachers, 30,000 roubles. The grantee students may be offered to continue their studies in advanced chemistry classes at SIBUR-sponsored schools, and school graduates, at SIBUR partner universities.

The SIBUR grant scheme is planned to be annual, with winners awarded at the end of the academic year.
