OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.1% over the first 13 days of November 2012 and 19.4% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

The largest increase in retail prices was registered with wheat flour (3.2%), bread and bakery goods (2.5%), butter (2%), semolina (1.9%), cottage cheese, condensed milk with sugar, milk powder blends used as baby food, pasta, tea, mayonnaise, vodka, beer, tobacco goods (1.1-1.7%), detergents (2.3%), furniture (0.8%), central heating (50.9%), fares on international trains (12.5%), households services (2.4%).

The price of fresh tomatoes went up 12%, fresh cucumbers – 6.5%, potatoes – up 2.5%, apples – up 10.1%, citrus fruits – 1.5%.

At the same time, carrot prices reduced 6.7%, beet roots – down 5.1%, white cabbage and onions – down 4.1%.

As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
