OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2012. Belarus may earn as much as USD 2.5 billion in privatization proceeds in 2013, vice chief of Belarus’ State Property Committee Sergei Pyatkov said Tuesday.

Belarus had planned to earn USD 2.5 billion in privatization proceeds in 2012, however the plan was never fulfilled.

“It is within our reach to earn USD 2.5 billion. The government owns over 70% of OJSCs, in which the state-owned share exceeds 50%,” Pyatkov said.

The official referred to chemical, petrochemical and mining companies. Even if Belarus sells a 10% stake in Belaruskali (assessed at USD 30-32bn), the privatization target for 2013 will be reached, Pyatkov said.
