OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2012. RusHydro JSC and Power Machines OJSC have signed a contract to retrofit eight hydro generators of Cheboksarskaya HPP.

According to the contractual terms Power Machines specialists are to examine the generators of the plant’s hydropower units ## 2,10,11,12,13,14,17 and 18, and then, basing on the    developed project, to produce stators, tachogenerators and other components for these generators. Besides, Power Machines specialists are to provide installation supervision of the delivered hydraulic equipment.

The delivery of the first of the eight sets of equipment is scheduled for January 2014 and that of the last one – for February 2017.

Power Machines started the reconstruction of Cheboksarskaya HPP’s equipment in 2007 by modernizing the blade turning mechanism of the rotor of hydropower unit # 7. In 2011-2012 the power engineering company reconstructed the rotors of hydropower units #16 and # 8. In 2011 Power Machines and RusHydro expanded the scope of their collaboration aimed at renovating the hydropower units of Cheboksarskaya HPP by entering into a contract to reconstruct seven more rotors along with the production of new parts and assemblies.  The first of them – the rotor of hydropower unit # 4, which is scheduled to be put into operation in Q4 2012. The delivery of the last of the seven reconstructed rotors is planned for May 2016.

The renewal of the main power generating equipment of Cheboksarskaya HPP is being carried out by RusHydro within the framework of a large-scale program for the plant’s integrated modernization and is aimed at increasing the reliability and operational safety of the HPP's equipment and at reducing its operating and maintenance costs.

The project for Cheboksarskaya HPP extends the successful collaboration between Power Machines and RusHydro. At present the companies are working together to overhaul Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP and Baksanskaya HPP, to build Boguchanskaya HPP and Zagorskaya PSPP-2, to retrofit hydropower units for Volzhskaya, Rybinskaya and Zhigulyovskaya HPPs.
