OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2012. CTC Media, Inc. (“CTC Media” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: CTCM), Russia’s leading independent media company, has announced that the CTC and Domashny channels have won a tender to be included in the second digital multiplex. The results of the tender were announced today by the Russian Federal Surveillance Service for Mass Media and Communications. There were a total of ten winners out of the 18 channels taking part in the tender. CTC Media submitted applications for all three of the Company’s Russian free-to-air channels.

CTC Media must now make a one-off license fee payment of 36 million rubles per channel and sign a broadcasting contract with Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network, the operator of the multiplex, for the entire 10-year period of the digital broadcasting license. The contract must be signed within the next three months.

The CTC Media development strategy covered the eventuality that not all of its channels would be included in the second multiplex. The Company has already developed and approved an alternative transmission plan, which envisages the use of cable and satellite networks, as well as the internet, to provide a substantial level of technical penetration for Peretz.
