OREANDA-NEWS. December 20, 2012. Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) is participating as a Platinum sponsor in the three-day 15th International Conference and Exhibition for Industrial Security, which was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. Saad bin Abdullah Al-Tuwaijri, Director-General of Civil Defense, on behalf of Interior Minister Prince Mohammad bin Naif bin Abdulaziz at the Riyadh Exhibition Centre on December 9. Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC Vice Chairman and CEO, received an honorary plaque from Al-Tuwaijri in recognition of the sponsorship, which reaffirmed the company’s corporate policy of applying stringent safety and security standards to all its business operations.

The conference and exhibition are being organized by the Higher Commission for Industrial Security to present the latest occupational health, security, fire protection and safety and emergency response solutions from suppliers, manufacturers and distributors industry in Saudi Arabia.

SABIC is sponsoring the conference and is participating in the exhibition to present and share its best practices and activities in Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS). The initiative is a demonstration of its strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, by helping the industry achieve higher levels of excellence through sharing, networking and better decision making.

Speaking about SABIC’s commitment to safety and security at its plants, Mosaed Al-Ohali, SABIC Executive Vice President, Manufacturing Center of Excellence, said, “SABIC puts EHSS at the core of its operations. SABIC speakers who are taking part in the conference are Mosaed Al-Ohali, who is addressing the question of “How leading petrochemical manufacturers integrate EHSS into their organizations’ fabric, moving from EHSS as a set of policies and procedures to a culture and way of doing work,” Mohammed Khamis Bamaga and Emad Al-Muaybid, who are speaking on “Cyber security – an emerging risk and a growing priority,” and Mohammed Q Al-Hajri, KEMYA Industrial Security Manager, whose paper highlights the importance of “Effective leadership to develop a proactive safety culture.”

The event has brought together international security, safety and fire professionals, technical solution-providers, representatives from energy and utility companies, and opinion formers from security and strategic relations academia.
