OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2012. Quality has always been a key focus area for Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company. Continuing with this commitment to improve quality at its various plant locations, Tata Power's Jojobera thermal power station celebrated Quality Day with its employees.

Quality Day was formally inaugurated by AK Lodh, AGM – operations, and included several sessions like quiz, idea contest, etc to enthuse the employees. The highlight of the celebrations was an interactive session for employees where they were invited to express their views on quality initiatives being undertaken within their departments and their contribution in positively impacting the business. Employees were invited to share their ideas on how to improve plant performance. They were also given a chance to contribute ideas, where it was decided that idea originator will be the idea implementer, and for the idea's execution, all kinds of resources and support will be provided, subject to acceptability of the idea from techno-commercial view. A written quiz on various aspects of quality / excellence in Tata Power as a whole as well as in its Jojobera power plant / Power House No 6 was conducted.

Speaking on the event, DS Kudalkar, head - Jojobera station, said, “The one-day celebration reinforces our commitment towards continual improvement through total employee involvement.”

As part of the quality movement, the improvements implemented at the Jojobera plant are presented through case studies at various national and international forums. The exercise facilitates sharing and learning best practices from improvements taking place at different companies. Tata Power has received domestic as well as international recognition for its quality movement. The procedures and methodologies deployed at its Jojobera thermal plant are in line with Tata Power's concerted efforts towards total quality management and assurance.
