OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2012. Tata Power’s Jojobera power station and its core technology and diagnostics (CTDS) team jointly organised a knowledge sharing workshop, TrafoCare 2012 at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

TrafoCare 2012 was organised to address the emerging need to deal with critical issues pertaining to transformer asset management faced by utility engineers like aged transformers, high failure rates of new transformers, upkeeping of transformer as per grid requirements at reduced maintenance expenses, use of condition monitoring, repairs or replacement issues, etc. All the requisites for ensuring that the transformer delivers to its full potential was discussed in detail by the 60 participants during this two-day workshop.

The two-day workshop provided a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices within Tata group companies and other prominent companies like NTPC, DVC and others The workshop was divided in five sessions that covered various aspects of transformer care and covered all types of transformers - large power transformers, oil filled distribution transformers and dry type distribution transformers used in thermal / hydro / wind / solar power plants, and transmission and distribution systems.

DM Chowdhary, GM, projects, Tata Steel, inaugurated the workshop. The papers were presented by external speakers from NTPC, EasunMR, Aditya Vidyut, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and DVC, apart from Tata Power team representatives across India.

Speaking on the event, DS Kudalkar, head, Jojobera station, said, “The objective of this workshop was to create awareness about the best practices and innovative solutions in handling transformers and also effective asset management in order to ensure optimum and reliable operation over their entire life. The knowledge shared and gained will add value to the participating organisations.”
