OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2013. Power unit 4 of DTEK Zuivska TPP has been reconnected to the grid of Ukraine after the retrofit. Implementation of the state-of-the-art unit upgrading improved the equipment reliability and considerably reduced environmental impact. The investments into the unit upgrade amounted to UAH 252 mln.

The unit currently operates according to the dispatch schedule, however, adjustment are in progress. After they will have been completed, DTEK expects a dramatic improvement in the technical characteristics of the unit. The capacity will increase from 300 to 325 MW, as well as the flexibility range: from 135 to 175 MW; specific fuel consumption will be reduced from 358.1 to 342.1 g/kWh, and the unit efficiency will rise from 35.1 to 36%.

“This project helped the energy market get additional electricity during the winter season, thus contributing to the energy security of the country,” said Yevgeniy Bogomolskiy, DTEK’s Large Projects Director. “The retrofit will improve the unit’s reliability, in particular due to the complete process automation. Furthermore, the service life of the equipment will be prolonged by at least 15 years.”

“The electric precipitator upgrading at unit 4 will reduce dust emissions by over 85%, bringing the unit’s parameters in compliance with the European dust emission standards. Cutting-edge technologies will be used to upgrade all the plant’s units. Specifically, in 2013-2014, DTEK will retrofit unit No. 3 of Zuivska TPP”, said Vitaliy Pitko, Director of DTEK Zuivska TPP.
