OREANDA-NEWS. January 11, 2013.  D’Island Residence, a 175-acre, high-end residential development comprised of hundreds of homes, bungalows and condominiums in Puchong, Malaysia, will install nearly 200 GE LED R150 and R250 street and area lighting systems in the coming months. The use of more efficient, longer-life LED systems instead of traditional metal halide systems is expected to result in annual energy savings of more than USD 180,000 and vast improvements in light pollution and spill. Another LED solution — GE’s Tetra miniMAX system — will be deployed to bring greater visibility and virtually maintenance-free operation to the development’s channel letter entrance signage.

Mr. Dato’ Lim Hock San, Managing Director of Malaysia’s leading property developers LBS Bina Group Berhad, says, “D’ Island Residence is a milestone project for our company, and we place great importance on every detail to ensure that we offer the best living experience within a sustainable development. Quality illumination that is energy efficient is a key consideration. We are pleased to collaborate with GE Lighting for this project, and we have full confidence that the solution specified will meet our expectation of exceptional lighting output, along with reduced environmental impact resulting from reduced energy usage.”

The white LED light used throughout the development is designed to create a more modern and vibrant atmosphere in the night space.

Mr. O Swee Aun, Country Manager of GE Lighting in Malaysia, adds, “Lighting plays a key role in creating the right environment in a night space. In our experience, we’re finding that bright white outdoor LED systems do more than increase a sense of security for users of a space. The quality of light can actually enhance a person’s brand experience.”
