OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2013. Five of six transmission lines belonging to KEGOC were restored and reconnected in Zhambyl Oblast. In particular on 15 January a 220 kV Kentau-Sholakorgan transmission line was powered, and on 16 January (at 7:26 AM Astana local time) a 500 kV Zhambyl – Shymkent transmission line was powered as well.

Restoration of these lines ensured reliable operation of KEGOC power grid and electricity supply to the Southern Power Region.

Despite the adverse weather conditions – stormy wind and over one meter thick snow cover – the Company’s maintenance crews continue their recovery works duly considering the urgency of the issue.

To cure the aftermath of the disaster, KEGOC deployed 60 employees and 30 pieces of equipment from Yuzhnye, Akmolinskiye, Tsentralnye, Almatinskiye and Severnye MES branches to the Zhambyl Oblast.

On 12 January, resulting from unexpected adverse weather conditions with abnormally high wind speed in Zhambyl Oblast, there was a fall of about 40 towers at 220 kV interregional transmission lines owned by KEGOC.
