OREANDA-NEWS. January 23, 2013. In 2012 Perm Engine Company has timely fulfilled state orders for supply of special PS-90A engines for completing Il-96-300 and Tu-204/214 aircrafts belonging to Special aircraft division "Russia" to the full extent. During the year Perm Engine Company had produced 14 new PS-90А aircraft engines. Within the context of securing obligations of continuing airworthiness of fleet of the airlines using Russian-produced aircrafts with PS-90A engines, Perm Engine Company executed repair of 78 engines of this model. 5 PS-90A engines were restored.

Vital issues of PS-90A engines operation and maintenance were discussed twice in 2012 at flight-technical conferences with the involvement of design bureaus, airlines, aircraft-building companies representatives. Conferences were held in Moscow and in Havana (the Republic of Cuba) in May and in October. Participants of conferences particularly noted the role of OJSC "Perm Engine Company" personnel in providing timely and high-quality repair and technical support of company products.

Within the context of execution of State Defense Order 35 D-30 engines mounted on Tu-134 aircrafts belonging to federal departments were repaired, model D-30 II series was updated till D-30 III series. This work will be continued in 2013. It is planned that the company will have to execute repair and updating of 48 D-30 engines. Eventually, total amount of State Defense Order for D-30 engines repair will increase more than fourfold as compared to 2011.

In 2012 PMZ executed considerable amount of work on providing aircraft repair companies with assemblies and constituent parts for repairing and service life extension of D-30F6 engines for MIG-31 strategic fighter-interceptors. For 2013 PMZ is planning to almost double the output volume of this type of product.

In 2012 after a long pause OJSC "Perm Engine Company" resumed the production of TV2-117А helicopter engine components. In 2013 OJSC "PMZ" is planning to double these components supply to OJSC "218 Aircraft Repair Plant" and to OJSC "Ural Plant of Civil Aviation"; it is expected that the contract value will be by 40 mln. Rubles more as compared to the contract of 2012.

Industrial gas turbine plants

Production volume of new gas turbine engines for ground purposes yet again surpassed the production volume of aircraft equipment at Perm Engine Company. In 2012 PMZ produced 51 gas turbine plants, among them 42 gas turbine plants of 10-25 MW capacity on the base of PS-90A aircraft engine gas generator and  9 "minor" gas turbine plants of 2,5-6 MW capacity on the base of D-30 aircraft engine.

At the same time due to more sparing operating conditions the volume of industrial gas turbine plants repair remains lower than the volume of aircraft engine repair. During the last year OJSC "PMZ" executed repair of 36 gas turbine plants of 10-25 MW capacity and  11 gas turbine plants of 2,5-6 MW capacity.

The key partner of OJSC "Perm Engine Company" and the main customer of gas turbine equipment for industrial purposes is being unfailingly OJSC "Gazprom". Cooperation which started 20 years ago is expanding further. In October 2012 Perm engine builders have issued 500th gas turbine plant, assembled by the order of the biggest gas production holding in Russia. "Anniversary" plant was the most efficient among those mass-produced at OJSC "PMZ" - with 25 MW capacity. In 2012 strategic gas pipeline "Nord Stream" was fully equipped with gas turbine plants produced in Perm, and in the middle of December Perm Engine Company had shipped the first plant for "South Stream" pipeline.

Altogether, following the results of 2012, 31 gas turbine plants of 2,5 - 25 MW capacity were supplied to the address of OJSC "Gazprom", 29 gas turbine plants were repaired.

In 2013 PMZ is planning to produce 50 gas turbine plants on the base of PS-90A engine, half of them will be the most powerful ones - GTU-16P and GTU-25P. 38 gas turbine plants will be made for OJSC "Gazprom".

Aleksey Mikhalev, Managing Director, OJSC "Perm Engine Company":

- 2012 has totally proved the consistency of OJSC "Perm Engine Company" as a serial producer of gas turbine engines for aviation and ground purposes. Matching the quantity of newly produced engines and number of working days in the last year we can say that every fourth working day we produced one new engine. And if we add the number of restored and repaired engines to that amount we will see that in 2012 Perm engine builders were commissioning more than one engine every day.

2013 opens new perspectives for Perm Engine Company: increase of orders is evident not only in the sector of aircraft engines repair, but also in the production of gas turbine equipment for ground purposes, manufacturing of parts and assemblies for D-30F6 и TV2-117А aircraft and helicopter engines. Despite the fact that the contract for supply of 156 PS-90А76 engines for fulfilling the order of Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for Il-76MD-90А aircrafts production is still under approval at United Engine Building Corporation regarding prices and terms of delivery, in 2013 we will start the preventive production of the first batch of PS-90А-76 aircraft engines under this order.

Milestone event for the company was delivery of the new PD-14 demonstrator engine for testing on May 30, 2012. Production of the fifth generation engine is performed in broad cooperation with other Russian engine building companies. For the assembly of the production prototype Perm Engine Company supplied high pressure turbine, stator of high pressure compressor, part of low pressure turbine, part of combustion chamber and other parts and assemblies. The key objective of OJSC "PMZ" assembly-testing facility is to finish the preparation of production facilities for the mass-production of PD-14 aircraft engine and gas turbine plants on the base of its gas generator in 2013.

In 2013 Perm engine Company will continue to implement a planned program of company perspective development. It will be executed both at the expense of OJSC "PMZ" internal funds, and also using other sources of financing: investment loans and funds of federal budget, devoted under the Federal Target Program for development of military-industrial complex for 2011-2020. Financing is performed in planned volumes, sufficient for the realization of our plans.
