OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2013. Traditional international tourist exhibition Matka-2013 in Helsinki has concluded its work on January, 20. Among its participants there were representatives of tourist industry from 80 countries of the world.

Karelia was presented at the exhibition by travel agencies of Belomortour Ltd., Ostrova, Intourist JSC, Egida Travel Agency, The Information Tourist Center the Republic of Karelia SE at the uniform stand of the Russian Federation My Russia together with representatives of the Urals, Yugra company and colleagues from the Department for Tourism Development of Leningrad region.

Tourist products and routes were presented by Kolmas Ltd., the island of Valaam and the town of Olonets. Representatives of Kostomuksha, Kalevala and Louhi region worked within the White Road project in cooperation with Finnish companies.

Within four days representatives of our republic acquainted visitors with tourist prospects of Karelia. Among the information materials distributed at the exhibition there were guidebooks, booklets, maps, as well as advertising products which represents a collection of ready tours to Karelia and a calendar of the most important events of 2013.

Meetings with representatives of Finnish travle agencies working for Karelia took place within the framework of the exhibition. Participants of the exhibition have paid special attention to issues of expansion of tourist opportunities in the Russian territory, ans matters also concerned tourist infrastructure, sightseeing service and transport problems.

According to the exhibition participants, Matka-2013 has once again indicated that the Republic of Karelia remains a region perspective for tourism development. As representatives of Karelian tourist industry observed, participation in the international exhibitions is of great importance for successful promotion of tourist potential of Karelia both in Russian, and in the international tourist markets.
