OREANDA-NEWS. January 28, 2013. National Entrepreneurial Network’s (NEN) First Dot, sponsored by Tata, held a two-day national conference on January 20 and 21. The occasion also saw the felicitation of the First Dot Judge’s choice competition (six awards) and People’s choice competition (five awards).

National Entrepreneurial Network’s (NEN) First Dot, sponsored by Tata, held a two-day national conference on January 20 and 21. The occasion also saw the felicitation of the First Dot Judge’s choice competition (six awards) and People’s choice competition (five awards). Recipients of the Judge’s choice are Biosyl Technologies, Botrio Design Labs, BuyHatke, CrowdBeans, Dreamscraft and Mukunda Foods. CREW, Videowala, Enchanter Corporation, Posh and Dreamtrips took the top honours for People’s choice.

“Twenty-nine ventures including the 11 winners were selected from over 400 entries from a pool of sectors such as education, retail, IT/software, travel and hospitality, etc,” informs Atul Agrawal, vice-president, corporate affairs, Tata Services.

All startups selected will receive professional mentoring from entrepreneurs, angel investors, mentors, experts and student startups through NEN.

He further added that the selection panel comprising entrepreneurs, angel investors and senior leaders from Tata, picked the winners based on their investment, track record, business model, innovativeness, distinctive competence, passion and growth potential. For the People’s choice, winners were picked through online public voting that garnered close to 64,000 votes.

Earlier, Sunita Singh, co-founder, NEN, urged students to look at the problems in the society, for they gave huge opportunities to come up with innovative ideas and products.
