OREANDA-NEWS. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always emphasised on the need for safety not only in their plants but also in and around their areas of operation. Understanding the urgency in coastal security off the Mundra plant, Tata Power's Coastal Gujrat Power (CGPL) invited Commandant RK Shrivastava, commanding officer, Indian Coast Guard station, Mundra as Atheethi of the Month to sensitise the CGPL fraternity over the maritime security of the Kutch region and the role of the Indian Coast Guard in it.

Commandant Shrivastava briefed the audience on the role of Indian Coast Guard with special reference to their setup at the Mundra station and its future expansion plans. Asst Commandant Kripali Yamben covered the organisational history of Indian Coast Guard, organisational setup and installation, fleet and vessel details, roles and responsibilities, pollution control in the sea and surveillance of the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone, evacuation and rescue missions and acting as nodal agency for policing in the Indian maritime zones.

Vayam Rakshamah, the slogan song which means 'We Protect', was also played during the presentation.

Speaking on this special initiative, KK Sharma, CEO and ED, CGPL, said, “Protecting our coastal belt is a very serious task undertaken by the Indian Coast Guard. We at Tata Power appreciate the effort that the coast guard makes in protecting the country’s water clad boundaries and feel it is important for people to understand the work that they are doing. We are very pleased to have Commandant Shrivastava here with us and his insights have truly been informative.”

The informative session was followed by a question and answer session in which Commandant Shrivastava answered questions by the associates of CGPL.
