OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2013. Ukraine and France plan to continue their cooperation in the framework of the Ukrainian-French Working Group on Agriculture. In particular, countries will deepen cooperation in land relations, crop production and animal health.

This was discussed during the meeting of the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Mr. Alain Remy.

Mykola Prysiazhniuk emphasized the importance that by the decision of the French Government has been introduced a post of technical adviser to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine on agriculture in order to organize the Ukrainian-French relations in the agrarian sector.

In turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Mr. Alain Remy has expressed interest in continuing effective Ukrainian-French cooperation. He proposed to speed up work of the Ukrainian-French Working Group on Agriculture in the framework of the bilateral economic committee.

"There are many reasons for the intensification of bilateral cooperation For France and Ukraine, which are major producers of agricultural products in Europe. For example, among the existing opportunities for cooperation international agricultural exhibition take priority place," Alain Remy said.

In recent years there was a positive trend of trade of agricultural products between Ukraine and France. Thus, in 2012 compared with the previous year turnover of agricultural products between the two countries increased by 167.09 million USD. In particular, the export of oil increased significantly - from 8.3 million USD in 2011 to 130.5 million USD in 2012. In addition, the export of cereals increased almost half - from 3.7 million USD to 6.9 million USD in 2012.
