OREANDA-NEWS. March 04, 2013. The Turkish Republic is one of the principal trade partners of Ukraine. This was stressed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Olexandr Pinskyi in the course of his meeting with Ambassador of the Turkish Republic in Ukraine Mehmet Samsar.

“The development of Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in trade and economic and investment areas is a determining factor of the improvement of strategic partnership between our states. Ukraine views Turkey as one the key trade partner. On the amounts of export of Ukrainian goods the Turkish Republic took the second place after Russia in 2012. The positive balance for Ukraine is USD 1.73 billion,” accentuated the Deputy Minister.

In his turn the Ambassador of the Turkish Republic noted that Turkey has always considered Ukraine its strategic partner. Mehmet Samsar remembered that in 2010 a significant for the development of bilateral cooperation document had been inked – the Agreement on strategic partnership targeting ensuring free travel of goods. The Turkish Ambassador emphasized that both countries have huge prospects in the area of tourism and development of recreation zones.

In addition, it was stressed that one of the mechanism of trade and economic and also investment cooperation is traditional representation of Ukraine on Izmir international fair. The national exposition of Ukraine has been organized here during 11 years, in the framework of the exhibition a Ukrainian-Turkish business forum is held with participation of representatives of business circles of Ukraine and Turkey.

“In 2013 we are also planning to represent economic and industrial potential of Ukraine on Izmir fair and hope for support of Turkey,” Olexandr Pinskyi told.

In 2012 the trade turnover with goods and services increased by 8.3% and totaled USD 6 bln 150 mln, which is by USD 469.5 mln more than in 2011.
