OREANDA-NEWS. In keeping with its tradition of celebrating International Women’s day and as part of its JetViva initiative, Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, is set to honour the efforts of non-profit organizations, aimed at the welfare of the girl child and women in society.

 Jet Airways has introduced a unique in-flight fundraising collection drive for three Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working on a range of women’s issues. India’s premier airline will contribute all proceeds from this drive to benefit three NGOs namely - Sulabh Nari Kalyan Kendra, Mijwan Welfare Society and Akshara, with a focus on expanding opportunities for women, through employment, self reliance and sustainable development to commemorate International Women’s day. As part of the “Celebrating Womanhood” initiative, Jet Airways has begun a fund collection drive on all its domestic flights from 4th - 13th March, 2013.

 Furthermore, between March 4, 2013 and March 8, 2013, Jet Airways is featuring its women staff members from various departments, including Cockpit Crew, Check-in, Technical Services, Ticketing and In-flight services, on its social media channels viz. Facebook & Twitter. The staff members who are being featured include Captain Shweta Singh- Examiner/Senior Commander, Karuna Manval- Check-in staff, Rumila Banerjee- Technical Services Engineer, Ingreet K-Ticketing Supervisor and Kainaz Mehta- In-flight Supervisor. This activity is intended to be an introduction to the airline's female workforce across various departments, as they share interesting insights into their life and career with the airline's fans.

 Two lady pilots from Jet Airways, First Officers Kadambari Uppal and Milly Emmanuel respectively, also attended the 'Nanhi Chaan' celebrations at Fortis Hospital in Noida on March 6, 2013, aimed at protecting the girl child and showcasing the varied achievements of modern women.

 Jet Airways participants in the “ICan Women’s Half Marathon” scheduled for Sunday 10th March at the Bandra-Kurla-Complex in Mumbai, will run in support of Nahni Kali and Samhita, in support of two key women related causes : Prevention of Anemia leading to Malnutrition and Education for the Girl Child respectively.

 According to Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways, “International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women. Their contributions across strata have been immense and immeasurable to say the least and on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Jet Airways would like to commemorate these special NGOs with various fund raising programs. These efforts are a small expression of the airline’s appreciation for their continued support to the airline over the years.”
