OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2013. The Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Chelyabinsk Region (Chelyabinsk OFAS Russia) has not revealed any increased prices for glass, double-glazed windows and the works for installing windows in the Chelyabinsk region. In the course of the inspection OFAS analyzed the wholesale and retail prices for glass and double-glazed windows in the towns and districts, the residents of which suffered from the meteorite shock wave.

“Chelyabinsk OFAS Russia has not received complaints regarding increased prices for glass, double-glazed windows and the works for installing windows. Nevertheless, we would like to warn economic entities that creating artificial shortage and unjustified increase of prices for glass, double-glazed windows and assembly works can constitute violations of the antimonopoly law and incur sanctions by the antimonopoly body”, said Deputy Head of Chelyabinsk OFAS Russia, Elena Semyonova.

According to the Main Department of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies for the Chelyabinsk Region:

On 15th February 2012, the meteorite explosion over Chelyabinsk damaged 3724 residential houses, 671 buildings of educational institutions, 11 socially-important facilities, 69 buildings used for activities involving art and culture, and 5 sport facilities. The total area of the glass destroyed by the shock wave is 200,000 square meters.
