OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ summed up the results of its Production System (PSK) for 2012. The most projected figures were reached and exceeded, but it doesn’t mean that there is no place for achievements and improvements.

It was planned to gain economic effect from lean manufacturing methods totaling 4.7 billion roubles, but the real amount reached 5.7 billion roubles.

It was expected that each employee will make 4 kaizen suggestions, but KAMAZ workers offered almost 247 thousand suggestions for improvement, which is on the average 4.5 kaizen ideas per person. 215,379 suggestions were implemented (120% of the planned number).

Kaizen projects are the same kaizen suggestions but of a larger scale. Last year, 4,420 projects were opened (including 1,712 KAMAZ managers’ personal projects), 3,361 of them were implemented (1,193 personal projects).

All newly employed personnel undergo PSK trainings. Last year 8,720 people were trained.

The economic statistics usually show cumulative sums. In all, since 2006, the economic effect from PSK in the company has reached 22.5 billion roubles. And the company spends 0.68% of this sum to develop PSK. From 2006 to 2012, 707,910 kaizen suggestions were put forward, and about 600,000 of them were implemented. The 5S system was adopted at more than 35 thousand workplaces.

Integrating KAMAZ’s and Daimler’s production systems – PSK and TOS, KAMAZ started organizing an educational center – Factory of Processes. The project is being realized jointly with Daimler experts after the example of Daimler’s educational center TOS. The company has already constructed the building of the center and equipped its classrooms.

The key aspects of PSK activity in 2013 is to organize trainings for the personnel at the Factory of Processes of OJSC KAMAZ, synchronize the process of truck manufacturing, develop PSK in subsidiary processes, etc. It is still important to involve all employees in PSK development: it is planned to reach no less than 5 kaizen suggestions per person this year.
